The Advocates For Aviation Safety Mission
The Advocates For Aviation Safety Foundation's mission is to work with Kevin Clover and the FAASTeam to promote the WINGS Pilot Proficiency Program and to help save lives by improving the nation's aviation accident and incident rate.
Our plan is to develop a nationwide network of pilot volunteers who will participate in an on-going telephone campaign to alert pilots about FAASTeam seminars and events to promote participation in "WINGS" - the FAASTeam Pilot Proficiency Program. Because you have sincere interest in aviation safety and the Wings Pilot Proficiency Program, The Advocates For Aviation Safety Foundation (AFASF) invites you to join our team. All we ask of you as a volunteer, is to make phone contact to aviators from lists provided, informing them of the benefits of the Event Search Widget.
Why?
Because the FAASTeam's reasoning is that, if we work to educate airmen in specific subject areas where a lack of knowledge or skill is identified as a causal factor in aircraft accidents, we have a chance of reducing accidents and saving lives. Become a WINGS Pilot Advocacy Volunteer!
From the Executive Director's Desk...
Because you share my passion for flying and all things related to our GA community, I take this opportunity to air my views in the most constructive manner I can, by urging all aviators to support organizations dedicated to allowing us the freedom to pursure our passion. But, with that comes an individual, personal responsibility. This responsibiliy to air safety is for our families, our friends, our community, and to one's own individual self.
My firm conviction is that to ensure our "freedom to fly", aviators must embrace "SAFETY" first and foremost.
While we may be "pretty smart" folks, we only get smart through education. And, where does that start? You guessed it...on the ground! What we do on the ground really matters! In my view, all aviators should:
- Be life-time dues paying members of the AOPA.
- Contribute to the Air Safety Foundation's "Hat in the Ring" Society.
- Make an oath to adhere to the principals of the Aviator's Model Code of Conduct (AMCC).
- Make a commitment to qualify for the FAA Safety Team WINGS Pilot Proficiency Program annually.
- Join and support the Civil Air Patrol.
-
Become an active Advocate for Aviation Safety Foundation (AFASF) volunteer.
